RGGI is proudly helping Delaware to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote energy efficiency and renewable energy. As of September 2016, Delaware received $94 million in cumulative proceeds.
How does rggi use its proceeds?
Through 2014, Delaware invested $27.1 million in RGGI auction proceeds. These proceeds have been invested in the Delaware Sustainable Energy Utility (SEU), a non-profit organization acting as a resource for energy efficiency and clean energy for state residents and businesses.
According to a recent report, in the period from 2012-2014 alone, the RGGI program led to $107.3 million of economic value in Delaware.
DELAWARE CLIMATE GOALS
Delaware has a target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 30 percent from 2008 levels by 2030. RGGI proceeds have been used to develop and implement climate change policy for Delaware to achieve these targets, as well as develop adaptation strategies, and guidance recommendations related to sea level rise and flooding.
LOW INCOME ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS
In addition, RGGI funds support the Delaware low-income home weatherization program and low-income heating assistance.
Approximately 15 percent of the state’s RGGI investment thus far have gone to providing assistance to low-income Delawareans.
