RGGI is helping New Hampshire residents and businesses reduce climate change-causing emissions through more energy efficiency measures. As of September 2016, New Hampshire received $112 million in cumulative proceeds.
HOW DOES RGGI USE ITS PROCEEDS?
Through 2014, New Hampshire invested $72.1 million in RGGI auction proceeds. These proceeds have gone to fund efficiency programs administered by the state’s electric utility companies and provide direct bill assistance to state residents.
The programs successfully weatherized residential homes, incentivized purchase of high efficiency appliances and lighting and upgraded businesses and municipalities with highly efficient equipment.
According to a recent report, in the period from 2012-2014 alone, the RGGI program led to $67.3 million of economic value in New Hampshire.
SUPPORT FOR RGGI
Across the state, there is strong support for clean energy and RGGI. A recent poll by the Sierra Club found 68 percent supporting New Hampshire’s participation in RGGI, with 68 percent supporting a change in annual carbon decreases to 5 percent.
